An antique book, The Comic Poets of The Nineteenth Century - Poems of Wit and Humor. Selected and arranged with notes by W. Davenport Adams. Published in the late 19th Century by George Routledge and Sons, London. Contains Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll and many other writers, including but not limited to, James Ballantine, Robert Browning, Robert Buchanan, George Cayley, Mortimer Collins, William Courthope, Austin Dobson, William S Gilbert, Frederick Locker, Walter Parke, Cholmondeley Pennell, William Sawyer, Alfred Tennyson, Edmund Yates, Bret Harte, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Charles G Leland, James R Lowell, and John Godfrey Saxe. 

The book is half-leather wrapped in a dark leather that has green undertones. There are five raised bands on the backstrip. Areas of the backstrip are rubbed, particularly on the lower edge where leather is missing and on the raised ribs. The gilt on the backstrip is bright. The marble color on the covers is bright. The decorated endpapers are pictured. The pages have a decorative red border throughout. There are a few foxing spots on the cover. There is a frontispiece black and white illustration and a few additional illustrations throughout. The pages are crisp with moderate tanning throughout. There is heavy foxing on the last couple pages. Dimensions: 7.25 x 5". 400 pages.
